hi I'm matthew! :-]

I am a PhD student at the University of Toronto and the Dynamic Graphics Project, supervised by Carolina Nobre. My research interests span data visualization and human-computer inteaction, with a focus on visualization literacy.

Prior to U of T, I did my undergrad at NYU Abu Dhabi. I also worked with Enrico Bertini on visualization for machine learning interpretability and Patrick Baudisch on adaptive interfaces for laser cutting.

Outside of work, I enjoy birdwatching, indie video games (especially roguelikes!), music, and vegan cooking.

Feel free to read my cv or email me at varona@cs.toronto.edu!
